Big Walk at a glance

What is Big Walk?

This unofficial Big Walk Wiki brings the essential facts onto one page, then links to deeper guides when you need more detail. Big Walk is an online cooperative adventure from House House, the studio behind Untitled Goose Game, published by Panic. It is designed for groups of 2–12 players who explore a large world by walking, talking, getting separated, and finding their way back together.

Communication is part of the terrain rather than a menu layered over it. Voices fade with distance, echo in corridors, muffle through walls, and crackle through walkie-talkies. Text chat follows the same environmental rules, while gestures and tools help when words stop working. The result is part open-world journey, part communication puzzle, and part excuse to watch the sunset with friends.

Big Walk became available on August 4, 2026 for Windows through Steam, and for Mac through Steam or the Mac App Store, alongside PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. Crossplay is confirmed across those platforms. The August 4–31 PlayStation Plus claim window and Steam launch discount have ended. The recorded U.S. Steam list price at launch was $19.99; check your regional store for the current price. No Xbox version has been announced.

First session

Getting started with Big Walk

Big Walk is built for 2–12 players and does not include random matchmaking. Before playing, gather a group you know and choose one reliable person to host. The host creates the session, owns the save, and must return whenever the group wants to continue the same journey. Picking a regular host is therefore the most important decision your group makes before setting out.

When a journey begins, the host selects a 2-player, 3-player, or 4+-player version of the world. This choice adapts parts of the experience to the expected minimum group size; it does not reduce the overall 12-player maximum. Smaller groups may feel more focused, while larger parties create more opportunities for separation, confusion, and improvised teamwork.

A microphone is useful but not required. In-game text chat supports the same core distance and environmental restrictions as voice. For the intended experience, keep your group inside the game’s communication systems rather than using an external voice call that bypasses the puzzles. Give yourselves time to wander—the game is about the journey, not simply reaching a marker quickly.

  • Gather at least two players before you begin.
  • Choose a host who can attend future sessions.
  • Agree on the 2, 3, or 4+ world version.
  • Test in-game voice or text chat.

Play together

Big Walk crossplay and multiplayer

Big Walk supports crossplay between Steam on Windows, Steam or the Mac App Store on Mac, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. Friends on the same platform can locate an active host through the in-game friends menu. Mixed-platform groups can use the short, unique Join Code generated when the host starts a session. Sharing that code privately is the most direct way to bring a cross-platform party together.

The multiplayer structure is host-based rather than server-based. Other players join after the host starts, everyone disconnects when the host ends the session, and the saved journey remains with that host. Official information does not describe host migration or save transfer, so groups should not assume another player can take over the same world later.

If a friend cannot connect, confirm that the host’s session is still active and that everyone is using the latest game version. A fresh Join Code may help when a platform-friends session does not appear. Returning groups should also verify that the original host—not merely another member of the party—is starting the saved journey.

Does Big Walk have crossplay?

Yes. All currently announced platforms can play together in the same online session.

Communication

Voice chat, text chat, tools, and toys

Big Walk turns communication into a game system. Voices fade over distance, echo down corridors, muffle through walls, and crackle through walkie-talkies. Text chat obeys comparable restrictions: messages can become unreadable at range, barriers can block them, and communication tools can change how they travel. No official source publishes exact distance thresholds, so fixed meter ranges should be treated as unconfirmed observations.

When speech or text fails, players can point, wave, gesture, and flail to direct attention. House House discourages Discord and other external calls because they remove the separation and misunderstanding that create the game’s puzzles and comedy. External chat is not described as a bannable action, but it can make carefully designed situations confusing or dull.

Official materials also name a playful collection of equipment: walkie-talkies, laser pointers, binoculars, megaphones, flares, whiteboards, cowbells, and a large golden head. Some are clearly communication or signaling tools; others are deliberately mysterious. This Big Walk Wiki records what the developers have confirmed without inventing ranges, durability, secret uses, or puzzle solutions.

Release information

Big Walk release date and platforms

The confirmed Big Walk release date is August 4, 2026. The date appears consistently on the official website, FAQ, press kit, and Steam store page. The announced launch platforms are Windows through Steam, Mac through Steam or the Mac App Store, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. The Mac version requires Apple silicon; full PC and Mac requirements are listed on the Steam page.

Sony included Big Walk as an August PlayStation Plus Monthly Game. The August 4–31, 2026 claim window has ended, so that historical offer does not make Big Walk generally free-to-play. The recorded U.S. Steam list price at launch was $19.99, while the 25% launch discount has also ended. Current prices vary by store and region.

There is currently no announced Xbox edition. That does not prove an Xbox version will never happen—it only means Xbox is absent from the official platform list as of this wiki’s latest review.

Cross-platform play is confirmed for the announced systems, so PC, Mac, PS5, and Nintendo Switch 2 players can share a session. Store availability and final pricing can change near launch, which is why the dedicated release page separates confirmed information from open questions.
